ABOUT NPSYCH
ABOUT NPSYCH
Based in East London and offering online consultations, NPsych provides expert, multi-disciplinary diagnostic assessments for Autism, ADHD, and Cognitive Abilities across all age groups—children, young people, and adults.
Our highly skilled clinicians use “gold standard” assessment tools to ensure precise, reliable, and comprehensive evaluations. We take a holistic approach, gathering insights from families, educators, and key professionals to build a full picture of each individual’s needs. To further enhance communication and support, we collaborate closely with Unlocking Language, ensuring our clients receive well-rounded, evidence-based care.
Everyone experiences and interprets the world differently. For individuals with autism, this often means processing information in a highly systematic and detail-oriented way. While this can be a strength, it may also come with challenges, particularly in understanding emotions, social cues, and navigating everyday interactions.
Recognising and assessing differences in social communication is essential to providing meaningful support. This includes exploring how individuals express themselves, interact with others, respond to sensory input, and engage with their specific interests. By gaining a deeper understanding of these factors, we can identify strategies that foster positive development and well-being.
The key to supporting someone with autism is embracing their perspective and tailoring approaches to suit their needs. Families, educators, and caregivers can create more inclusive, supportive environments that allow individuals to thrive. At NPsych, our experienced team is dedicated to helping you navigate these challenges. Through expert assessments and personalised guidance, we empower families with the knowledge and tools needed to support their child’s unique strengths and needs.
We take a multi-faceted approach to understanding your child’s needs. By gathering information from parents, schools, and our own observations, we aim to build an comprehensive picture of their development and experiences.
After completing initial screening tools (SCQ and SRS-2) with parents and schools, we use the ‘gold standard’ assessments (ADI-R and 3Di) to gather detailed information through interviews.
To evaluate your child’s social communication skills, we use the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule-2 (ADOS-2), a play- and conversation-based tool designed to assess social strengths and challenges.
Once all relevant data has been collected from parents, schools, and face-to-face assessments, we determine whether your child meets the criteria for an autism diagnosis. This detailed feedback is shared sensitively, providing valuable insights for parents and educators to adapt the child’s environment.
The process for adult autism assessments mirrors that used for children. After completing an initial screening questionnaire, key informants (e.g., a partner or parent) are invited to participate in the assessment process using the ADI-R and 3Di tools.
Social communication is further explored using the ADOS-2, focusing on conversation-based skills.
Once all the information is reviewed, a determination is made regarding whether the individual meets the criteria for an autism diagnosis.

ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects behaviour, attention, and impulse control. Individuals with ADHD may experience persistent restlessness, difficulty maintaining focus on tasks, and a tendency to act impulsively. These challenges can impact daily life, including school, work, and social relationships.
ADHD symptoms typically emerge in childhood but can continue into adolescence and adulthood. The DSM-5 diagnostic criteria require at least five symptoms of hyperactivity and/or impulsivity to be present for six months or more, significantly affecting daily functioning. These may include difficulty sitting still, trouble following through on tasks, excessive talking, interrupting conversations, or struggling with organisation and time management.
At NPsych, we offer comprehensive ADHD assessments to help individuals and families understand how ADHD affects them and identify strategies for better support. Our expert team uses evidence-based tools to ensure accurate diagnoses, guiding you toward the right interventions to improve focus, emotional regulation, and overall well-being.
To better understand your child’s needs, we collect detailed information from parents/carers and schools. This includes the Conners 4 Index, a screening tool used to identify ADHD traits and guide the decision-making process.
The assessment includes a diagnostic interview with parents/carers and a QB Check-a computer-based tool that provides objective insights into ADHD traits.
Based on the gathered information, our team determines whether your child meets the criteria for an ADHD diagnosis, in consultation with a Psychiatrist. Results are shared sensitively, offering support to families and schools in adapting strategies to meet the child’s needs.
For families interested in exploring medication options, we can provide a referral to a Consultant Child Psychiatrist.
Children with learning difficulties may face significant challenges in the classroom. By understanding their cognitive strengths and areas for development, educators can implement targeted strategies to support learning.
The Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC-V) assesses overall intellectual ability and helps identify learning disabilities.
